With a brief glance over speed-type's landing page (https://github.com/dakra/speed-type) I see the cross-link to uniline (https://github.com/tbanel/uniline#compatibility-with-org-mode) -- which could be an awesome additional package if you share the interest and have the time.
-
debhelper-compat can be upgrade to 14, after which ${misc:Depends} can also be dropped. -
> With a brief glance over speed-type's landing page I see the > cross-link to uniline which could be an awesome additional package > if you share the interest and have the time. I had noticed it too! If no one else takes it up, I will after this package is done.

>> With a brief glance over speed-type's landing page I see the >> cross-link to uniline which could be an awesome additional package >> if you share the interest and have the time. > > I had noticed it too! If no one else takes it up, I will after this > package is done. If (perspective) `emacs-uniline` is independent of `emacs-speed-type`, i.e. file `debian/control` does not mention it in the block which starts by `Build-Depends:`, my recommendation is to start whenever you have the interest, the time, and the resources at disposition.

>> don't forget to toggle in d/changelog the most recent `UNRELEASED` >> (all caps) to `unstable` (lower case only). > >It should remain UNRELEASED till a sponsor is found, right? This is addressed in the Debian Policy (I refer to version 4.7.4.1, released on 2026-03-31), section 4.4. Debian changelog. The corresponding address to the online version is https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#s-dpkgchangelog, including the template ``` package (version) distribution(s); urgency=urgency ... ``` where `distribution` is the indicator "once the package is ready, where should this upload go to?". By your d/changelog, as well as a check on the package tracker page (here: https://tracker.debian.org/search?package_name=emacs-speed-type), `emacs-speed-type` is not yet known to Debian at all. This is the reason why the template's `distribution(s)` is to be replaced to `unstable`, i.e. "upload this package to Debian's branch testing (at present: to prepare Debian 14/forky)" as the usual point of entry. I recommend to adjust this prior to seeking a sponsor. Some about the background; If `emacs-speed-type` is accepted to `unstable` .and. if it is compatible with present day `stable` / Debian 13/trixie, you may opt-in for a backport (see https://backports.debian.org/). Then, `stable-backports` (instead of `unstable`) would be the appropriate keyword d/changelog here. I do not know the setup you use to prepare a package for an upload to the mentors page. For me, for an already existing package to update, I use `dch -i` to increment to a new version. If I fetched the relevant files, and issue the command `dch -i`, file d/changelog opens in the vim editor with `UNRELEASED` highlighted in red -- to prevent an accidental upload to Debian. The change of `UNRELEASED` to `unstable` (then displayed in green) is my last edit of d/changelog prior to an upload; the file's edit starts by the command `dch -e`. (See `man dch` for the many other options available, e.g. `dch -a` to add an additional bullet point to address in d/changelog).
-
> `emacs-uniline` is independent of `emacs-speed-type` > .. > my recommendation is to start whenever you have the interest, the > time, and the resources at disposition. Yeah I got that. :-)
