Comments

  1. Please note that imapsync was removed from Debian because the author requested it. You should verify if anything has changed since then.

  2. Thanks for your comment.

I have double checked with imapsync's author, who stands on what is stated on:
    https://imapsync.lamiral.info/INSTALL.d/INSTALL.Debian.txt

He specifically pointed this part out to me:
    «
First, a call to Debian packagers
Why imapsync is not in Debian as a package?
Imapsync used to be in Debian from 2005-04-25 (release 1.125) to 2011-01-25 (release 1.315).
It could be in Debian nowadays, as always, my last words on this discussion were
"Do what you want, I promise I won't complain anymore about the fact imapsync is in Debian or not."
    https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2011/01/msg00058.html
The Imapsync license is "No limits to do anything with this work and this license".
    So feel free!

  3. To be explicit:

there is no problem for the author of imapsync that a Debian imapsync package exists.

  1. This looks very good already.

    Two points:
    - Please remove cpanminus from the dependency list, it's not needed as all perl dependencies are satisfied from Debian packages.
    - Please check the issues reported by lintian, especially anticipated-repack-count, patch-not-forwarded-upstream and silent-on-rules-requiring-root. Those should be very easy to fix.

Regarding the changelog: Given this is a new (albeit reintroduced) package please combine everything into a single changelog entry. Also, the changelog should only contain changes that are relevant to the user. While generating the changelog from git (using gbp dch) is a good starting point, it's not always necessary to keep everything.

As imapsync used to be in Debian before, please see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.en.html#reintroducing-packages as well.

    Thank you for your work!
