For a first package into the archive you should only have the single
" * Initial release. (Closes: #952954)." entry in debian/changelog
Personally I prefer otf, over ttf, and don't ever ship woff* but not sure,
maybe ask the fonts-team by mailing list or #debian-fonts on irc.
The source distribution includes ufo files, which you can build either
using ufo2otf or fontmake. (Sometimes one works better than the other,
I'll leave it for you as an exercise to figure, but I can tell it's possible)
And you should go for it!

Hello Gürkan, thanks for your review!
For the changelog, this is because 1.0.4-1 is already pending in NEW . I did have a look at other packages, and it seems that bumping the changelog after a new upstream is released is what is done .
Can you confirm if there is already 1.0.4-1 in NEW I should keep the changelog as "initial"?
For the UFO, I have tried to generate the fonts but the end result is not convicting: only the bold fonts were able to be generated .
Given that upstream is not supportive in redesigning the font in fontconfig , I think we should not rely on this exported UFO file for the hope of master integration but just go with the provided TTF files even if this means "contrib".

I can neihter confirm nor do the opposite about changelog in NEW, sorry.
can you also provide the command you enter?
/debian/mentors/fonts-jetbrains-mono-1.0.6/source/UFO+DesignSpace/Normal/masters# ufo2otf JetBrainsMono-Regular.ufo
works for me, must be in the same `pwd`
I thought I'd use fontmake (also works with the -m option for the designspace files) or -g glyphs and -u ufo. That works for me as well (I prefer -o otf), however the -i part fails...
I wasn't able to find the video of fosdem 2020 of medicalwei, but that'd be a great listen/watch for you maybe?
And also being on irc #debian-fonts
