§1 Introduction and the main window

This section describes the parts of the Trizbort-qt main window. Trizbort-qt is a visual mapping tool for interactive fiction: it draws a map of rooms joined by connections and exports it as an image, a PDF, or source code for a range of interactive-fiction systems.

The map canvas

Most of the window is the map canvas, on which rooms and connections are drawn. Hovering over a room or connection shows a tooltip with its name and other details.

The menu bar has nine menus: File, Edit, Rooms, Connections, Automap, Validation, Tools, View, and Help. Rooms are covered in §2 (Working with rooms) and connections in §3 (Working with connections).

The toolbar

A small toolbar holds two connection toggles: Toggle Dotted Lines and Toggle Directional Lines. Each flips the style, respectively the flow, of the selected connections.

The Mini Map

A Mini Map dock gives an overview of the whole map. It is hidden until it is shown from the View menu's Mini Map item.

The status bar

A status bar along the bottom shows brief messages, and at its right the current zoom level as a percentage.
